Venerable Ajahn Mun
Venerable Ajahn Mun Maha Thera (1870–1949) a Thai Bhikkhu [Monk] with his teacher Ajahn Sao Kantasilo (1861–1941) established the Thai Forest Tradition. He was ordained as a monk in 1893. He followed the vinaya [monastic rules]. He observed dhutanga [ascetic] practices including living in forests, wearing robes made of discarded rags, and only eating one meal a day. He attracted many followers. The Thai Forest tradition has spread to other countries.
